Kitchen Tea

The Kitchen Tea was traditionally held to fill the bride's kitchen for her first week's of married life. This was traditionally held by the mother-in-law and guests included important females in the bride-to-be's life. Now the kitchen tea might be organised by the bride's own mother, the mother-in-law, or the bride's bridesmaids.

It is a day to share married life wisdom with the bride-to-be. The day should be a celebration of the upcoming wedding and a celebration of the good times to be had in marriage.

Kitchen Tea Gift Slideshow

Married (or those in committed relationships) friends should be encouraged to share the wisdom they have gained through the highs and lows of marriage. Guests should be encouraged to share, through talking, or through note-writing, sage advice the bride-to-be should know as she becomes a wife. You can encourage your guests to bring a photo of their wedding and their bridal party to compare fashion over the years, and so the guests can talk about who was in their bridal party. This is a good introductory game if you have a large group of women that are from both the bride's side and the groom's. Guests can speak one at a time about their wedding, where it was held, budget if known and what they wore. They can also talk about their honeymoon if time permits. This way all guests will share a story about themselves that is relevant for the day, and they can get to know other family members. For guests that are not married, encourage them to bring along photos of bridal parties they were apart of, or funny celebrity weddings.
