Wedding Order - When should the bride and groom perform their first dance at the reception?

Q. When should the bride and groom perform their first dance at the reception?
A. There is no fixed rule around the first dance, however when you have it can help you set the tone for your wedding reception.

When you have your dance during your reception helps keep the formalities of the evening moving along in an orderly fashion. Most weddings have the bridal waltz after the speeches and cutting of the cake. This then sets up the dance floor as the place the guests will spend the end of their night. However, performing the dance after the bride and groom enter the reception is gaining in popularity. This can help set up a mood of fun, relaxed dancing for the evening if you want your guests to be more active than sitting at their tables eating. This works well for a cocktail wedding.
