Measure the mum-to-be's belly game
Guests estimate how big the mum-to-be's belly is with string or ribbon. The winner is the closest to the actual measurement. Another good game for different age groups.
Prep before the baby shower:
At the start of the baby shower, or before the party, measure the mother-to-be's belly with a piece of ribbon, string or measuring tape. Best to start the measurement from the mother's belly button.
What you will need:
- Measuring tape (for those wanting to be accurate).
- Coloured ribbon or string.
- Scissors.
- Measurement of the mum-to-be's belly, either with the measuring tape, or with a clearly labeled separate piece of string/ribbon.
- Prize for closest and booby prize for furthest from the measurement.
How to play this game:
Measure the mum-to-be's belly before the game begins.
Let all the guests take a look at the belly.
Let the guests cut the string/ribbon to the length they think will make it around the baby belly.
Either, play this game when everyone is sitting down together, or start this game as each guest arrives. Ask them to cut off a piece of string to the length they estimate around the mother-to-be's belly (measuring from the belly button around). When everyone has arrived you can walk around and check to see which piece of string is the closest to the actual string.
A good tip is to test one piece of string at a time. keep the closest piece and walk on to the next guess, changing the string if another guest is closer to the correct length. Alternatively you can use a measuring tape for the actual length and then use this to check each guest's string guess.
This game is very popular at a baby shower as it is easy for all guests to play. If there are little children at the baby shower they can enjoy this game too, or they can help carry the ribbon around to each guest.
